Heating repair in Las Vegas
AMA Air repairs gas furnaces, heat pumps and gas-electric rooftop units across the Las Vegas valley. Call (702) 750-2608 or book an $89 diagnostic visit online.
Diagnostic visit
A technician comes to your home, tests the system and finds the cause.
If you go ahead with the repair, the $89 is credited toward it.
Safety first. If you smell gas, leave the house now and call 911 or your gas company from outside. Don’t switch lights or appliances on or off.
If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside and call 911.
What is your heater doing?
Cold air from the vents
On a gas furnace, the burners may not be lighting: a dirty flame sensor, a failed igniter or a gas valve problem. On a heat pump, it may be stuck in defrost or its backup heat may have failed.
It lights, then shuts off
A burner that lights for a few seconds and goes out often points to a dirty flame sensor. A safety limit tripping on overheating is another cause.
Nothing happens at all
Check the thermostat, its batteries and the furnace’s power switch first. Then it may be a control board, a door safety switch or a blown fuse.
A burning smell on the first cold day
A brief dusty smell when the heat first runs is dust burning off. A smell that lasts, or smells electrical, is a reason to switch it off and call.
Heat pump outdoor unit covered in ice
A thin layer of frost that clears during defrost is normal. A solid block of ice that stays means the defrost system needs a look.
Not sure what’s wrong?
A technician can find out. Call now or book a visit online.
What can I check before I call?
- The thermostat is set to Heat and above the room temperature.
- The furnace power switch, often next to the unit, is on.
- The furnace door is closed fully, so its safety switch is pressed.
- The air filter isn’t clogged.

Heating in a desert city
Las Vegas winters are short but real: January’s average low is 40.5°F. A heater that sits idle from spring to November often shows its problems on the first cold night, when a dirty flame sensor or a worn igniter fails.
Most Nevada homes heat with a furnace; others have a heat pump or a gas-electric rooftop unit. We work on all three.

Questions
Do you repair heat pumps?
Yes. We repair heat pumps in heating and cooling mode, including defrost problems and backup heat, as well as gas furnaces and gas-electric rooftop units.
Is it safe to keep resetting my furnace?
Not more than once. A furnace that keeps shutting off is protecting itself from a fault, sometimes a safety one. Switch it off and call (702) 750-2608.
